NRA-ILA: Truthing Gun Control Laws

Let me start this out with a solid truth: If you say your gun rights are important and you do not belong to the NRA, you are a hypocrite. For all its faults, the NRA is still the most important ally we have, and it is a safe bet that without its efforts you'd have less freedom than you have today.

The NRA has been involved in this battle since its founding in 1871.


If you want to fact-check some of the gun-grab emails going around, the NRA-ILA site is the place to check them out. It is the Snopes of gun legalities. When restrictive “gun control” legislation is proposed at the local, state or federal level, NRA members and supporters are alerted and respond with individual letters, faxes, e-mails and calls to their elected representatives to make their views known.

The Institute is involved in any issue that directly or indirectly affects firearms ownership and use. These involve such topics as hunting and access to hunting lands, wilderness and wildlife conservation, civilian marksmanship training and ranges for public use, law enforcement-related issues, product liability, trapping, crime victim rights and criminal justice reform.
