Search My Notes

There are many pages of posts on many subjects, and only a few show on this main page. Search for the subjects that you are interested in.

Topics covered in here tend toward Gadgetry, Weapons, Books, Tools, and a lot of other things that have captured my interest.

Please note the "Linked From Here" tab on the results, which lists search results from sites I have linked to in my posts.

Resilience

Resilience.org is both an information clearinghouse and a network of action-oriented groups. It has roots in systems theory, and it has a variety of interpretations and applications including for ecosystems management, disaster preparedness, and even community planning Our focus is on building community resilience in a world of multiple emerging challenges: the decline of cheap energy, the depletion of critical resources like water, complex environmental crises like climate change and biodiversity loss, and the social and economic issues which are linked to these. We like to think of the site as a community library with space to read and think, but also as a vibrant café in which to meet people, discuss ideas and projects, and pick up and share tips on how to build the resilience of your community, your household, or yourself.

Vintage Wodworking Machinery

Vintage Wodworking Machinery was founded as a public service to amateurs and professionals who enjoy using and/or restoring vintage machinery. Our main mission is to provide information about vintage machinery that is generally difficult to locate. This is accomplished primarily through contributions of the users of this site.  Many people have graciously contributed documentation of old woodworking machinery that is in their personal collections to this site so that others can share in its use.

It has a large database of manuals and photos of old machines. Chances are, if your machine is from a well known manufacturer or even a lesser known extinct manufacturer , you’ll be able to find the manual for it there. They have a very active discussion forum full of people who love nothing more than their old tools and helping people get these machines going. The archive has 10 years of collected wisdom, and if you can't find what you need, just ask.. You’ll probably get a quick answer.

GovDeals, the Ebay of surplus.

GovDeals

Government entities need to get rid of excess junk too, and they often do it through a site called GovDeals. It's like Ebay for the federally-funded set.

GovDeals provides services to various government agencies that allow them to sell surplus and confiscated items via the Internet. Each participating agency has its own auction rules and regulations and may be subject to government ordinances.
