VuurWapenBlog
The VuurWapenBlog:
"I served in the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman - HM2 (FMF). I was first in my class at Hospital Corps School and given my choice of assignments. I selected First Marine Division and was sent to the 5th Marine Regiment after Field Medical Service School (FMSS). From there, I was assigned to the regimental commander's PSD platoon.
I deployed once, to Fallujah, Iraq, in 2006, and spent 11 months there. In addition to PSD, I worked for Scouts, Tanks, Tracks, and other units, including an Army MP Company. During that time I took part in over 200 mounted and dismounted patrols throughout Anbar province, functioning not only as a Corpsman but also as a vehicle commander, electronic countermeasures dude, and dismounted security.
During my time in the military I sent countless thousands of rounds downrange with my M4 carbine and M9 pistol. I also became intimately familiar with the M249 SAW and carried, fired, or blew up buses with the M203, M32 MGL, M240G, M2, and MK19.
On the civilian side, I've attended courses taught by half a dozen or so instructors, and I continue to shoot approximately 400 rounds per week - mostly rimfire.
After I was honorably discharged, I returned to finish my Bachelor's degree at the University of Arizona. I now provide photo and video services to various companies within the firearm industry. I have also acted as a technical consultant to major firearm and ammunition manufacturers.
Anyone interested in contacting me may do so via email at andrew@vuurwapenconcepts.com."
This video sums it up nicely.

Open Source Ecology is a network of farmers, engineers, and supporters that for the last two years has been creating the Global Village Construction Set, an open source, low-cost, high performance technological platform that allows for the easy, DIY fabrication of the 50 different Industrial Machines that it takes to build a sustainable civilization with modern comforts. The GVCS lowers the barriers to entry into farming, building, and manufacturing and can be seen as a life-size lego-like set of modular tools that can create entire economies, whether in rural Missouri, where the project was founded, in urban redevelopment, or in the developing world.

Slinging, the Art and the Science
Slinging.org: A sling is a projectile weapon typically used to throw a blunt projectile such as a stone or lead "sling-bullet". It is also known as the shepherd's sling. This is the place to come for information on them.
A sling has a small cradle or pouch in the middle of two lengths of cord. The sling stone is placed in the pouch. The index finger is placed through the loop, the other string has a tab that is placed between the thumb and forefinger. The sling is swung and with a flick of the wrist the tab is released at the precise moment. This frees the projectile to fly to the target. The sling derives its effectiveness by essentially extending the length of a human arm, thus allowing stones to be thrown several times farther than they could be by hand.
The sling is very inexpensive and easy to build. It has historically been used for hunting game and in combat. Film exists of Spanish Civil War combatants using slings to throw grenades over buildings into enemy positions on the opposite street.[citation needed] Today the sling interests sportsmen as a survival tool and as an improvised weapon.
