Vintage Trek Bicycles
Vintage Trek
On this site are early Trek brochures or catalogs covering the period 1976 to 1995. There also are four early price lists from bike shops in Santa Barbara, CA. The price list and values page also has a list of bike prices when new. This information was provided mostly by visitors to this site. This page also includes suggestions for estimating the current value of a Vintage Trek.
There is a timeline for steel Trek road bikes that often can be used to identify or date a frame. A table of Trek models by year and color includes virtually all Trek bikes from 1976 through 2005.
Serial number information can be found on the serial number page.
Methods of determining the date of manufacture of bicycle components (and often the bikes they are on) are described here.
Suggestions for buying or selling a vintage Trek are given on the site as well as tips for refurbishing or upgrading your bike. Included is a section on general specifications for vintage Treks.

Universal Hovercraft
Universal Hovercraft is the supplier of new and pre-owned units, parts and plans for the most truly versatile vehicle ever invented, the hovercraft.
A well-designed hovercraft is superior to a boat because it has less drag and requires less horsepower to operate. A hovercraft is 100% more fuel-efficient than a boat with similar capacity or size.
Hovercraft ride much smoother than boats because they travel over the surface of the water, not through it. It travels over water with no concern for depth or hidden obstacles. The saying, "if it looks good, it is good" refers to operating the hovercraft over land water or ice, if the path looks relatively smooth you're good to go. Hovercrafts will go against the current of a river with no speed reduction or decrease in fuel mileage. The hovercraft also works well in rapids and white water making it an excellent rescue vehicle.
Safety around swimmers and water skiers is far superior to a boat since there is nothing in or on the water. The hovercraft will pass safely over a swimmer or skier. This technique has proven useful when returning the line to a fallen skier.
Hovercrafts eliminate the need to climb in and out at crowded docks or piers. No more tying up every time you dock. Simply drive up onto land, shut off the engine and step out. Your hovercraft will launch from almost anywhere and does not require a special launching ramp like a boat. All hovercraft will float in water and can be docked for extended periods.
You can enjoy numerous year-round activities while investing in only one craft. Use it as a boat in the summer to go water skiing, fishing, or camping. In the winter the hovercraft is even more useful. It will travel over soft or heavy snow. You will never have to worry about the thickness of the ice or the depth of the snow you're traveling over. It makes no difference to the hovercraft.
Their top of the line Hoverwing model flying in ground-effect mode enables you to clear obstacles and fly over rough water at speeds in excess of 75 mph. Cruise altitude is 1 meter (3 feet) to 2 meters (6 feet) and the craft can jump up to 7 meters (20+ feet) to clear large obstacles. Operating in ground-effect does not require a pilot's license, and the craft is registered as a boat.
Removing the wings from the Hoverwing takes just 10 minutes. With the wings removed the Hoverwing converts into Sport mode, a sleek high performance hovercraft, able to carry 4 to 6 passengers into areas that can't be reached with any other vehicle.

5.11 Tactical: Purveyors of Practical Gear
"5.11" is a rock climbing difficulty level as listed in the Yosemite Decimal System. With skill levels ranging from 5.0 (easy) to 5.10 (difficult), 5.11 is even more grueling. 5.11 is officially defined as, “After thorough inspection, you conclude this move is obviously impossible; however, occasionally someone actually accomplishes it.”
The 5.11 Tactical® Pants with the trademarked tactical strap and slash pocket design were originally developed for rock climbing. Now, 5.11 is the choice of professionals. They create superior products that enhance the safety, accuracy, speed and performance of law enforcement, military and firefighting professionals. Built on a foundation of durability, quality and value, 5.11, Inc. leads the industry in delivering functionally innovative gear, head to toe.
I just got my first pair of these and are sold on them. I am like the Red Buttons character, Pockets, in the John Wayne movie HATARI! I habitually tote a lot of stuff for EDC, and of the many cargo pants variations I have tried, the 5.11 Taclite Pro is the best designed and most durable and comfortable.
